Snow!

We've been getting lots of snow lately and yesterday Owen & I finally went out to play in it. We went sledding down the little hill by our house and made a snowman.

Baby Ava

Our little Ava is learning so much everyday. She's becoming more & more alert and also started smiling 2 weeks ago. This last picture distorts her face a little bit but there's the beginning of a half smile. It's so fun. It's amazing to think how much she's learned and grown already.

Sleep- What a Wonderful Thing!

So I don't know when this will happen again but last night Ava fell asleep around 11 or so and I didn't hear her again until almost 6:00 this morning! Wahoo! That makes for a happy mama.

Uncle Dallin

Owen loves his Uncle Dallin Paul. Here they are both wearing their "Go Aggies" Utah State shirts. They are good pals. It's fun to watch them interact. Dallin doesn't have to do much to get a good gut laugh from Owen. They have a lot of fun together.

Owen- Go Jazz!

Owen has a new favorite place to play that sits in one of our big windows- there's lots of light. So, it's fun to take pictures there. The last picture, Owen is wearing head & wrist bands that they passed out at a Jazz game that Matt & I got to go to. We are surprised at how much Owen likes them. When he puts them on he says "Go running now" or "Go Jazz" and then takes off running with his little arms tucked up tight- cause that's what they do in basketball I guess.

Although Owen doesn't look so happy in the picture, he has been a great big brother. It's fun to have our Ava here.

First Bath

I finally downloaded a bunch of pictures today. Here's some of Ava's first bath. She has such a cute little body. Sometimes I forget how little her body is until I change her clothes or put her in the tub. She's usually bundled up in pants & long sleeves cause it's so cold.

Christmas

Other than Matt being sick, we had a great Christmas. It was so fun to enjoy it with Owen and Ava. Owen was in no hurry opening his presents on Christmas morning and liked to play with each thing or least open it up and dump it out before he'd move to the next present. It was fun.

We got a new dishwasher that is so awesome to have. After getting an adapter to attach it on our old faucet, I did the first load yesterday. It felt like magic to be sitting in the next room and hear our dishes getting washed. Like a fairy tale except I didn't have to sing to any birds, mice or cockroaches like on the new movie "Enchanted".

New Baby Ava

Having a new baby is such a neat thing. It's been so fun to enjoy her this Christmas.

Welcome Ava Elise!

Christmas came a little early at our house this year. We have a new baby girl. She was born on Monday December 17th at 6:41 pm. She weighed 7 lbs 14 oz and she is 20 inches long. Her name is Ava Elise Huff.

Traditions!

Christmas is such a fun time to celebrate traditions. It's a great way to enjoy good times with family. Ever since I can remember, I've enjoyed two wonderful traditions- making chocolates and the Book Find. Maybe I can say that I've enjoyed the chocolate making tradition more this year because I haven't been around as much for all of the late night parties of center making and dipping but the smell of melted chocolate that fills the house definitely means that Christmas is coming. Owen has been a big fan of the chocolate tradition this year too. He got to help grandma by throwing chocolate centers into the melted chocolate. By the end of the day, he was tuckered out and fell asleep watching a movie.

Probably my favorite Christmas tradition is that of the Book Find. This is how it works, my parents buy a book for each of us and wrap it in different wrapping paper. When the night of the book find comes all of us kids & grandkids gather in a room and hide the books we got for our parents while they hide our books. Once everything is hidden, we each get a little scrap of the wrapping paper that our book is wrapped in. Then we are turned loose to find our books. If the game drags out longer than we want to search then the hot/cold game comes into play. After everyone has found their books we start with the youngest and each open up our book. Anyways, I love it. It's such a great way to enjoy good books and to get started with Christmas a little early.

Christmas List

On Wednesday afternoon, Owen & I were downtown killing some time looking at the toys at the Book Table until Matthew got off work. We looked around at a bunch of the toys until we came to the train table. After that, Owen just wanted to play with the trains. I didn't really know that he liked trains that much but thought it was fun he could play at the cool train table. So, after almost an hour of playing with trains, I told Owen it was almost time to go and then a few minutes later told him it was really time to go and get Daddy from work. Owen was very sad to leave the trains. While he was wiggling and crying as I carried him out of the store, I told him that maybe Santa could bring him a train present on Christmas. While we were driving in the car we kept talking about the trains and when we picked up Matthew at work Owen had to tell him about the trains. From there we went to Matt's parents house. As soon as we walked in the door Owen walked straight to the little table that a little 2 foot Santa was standing on and sat down in the chair in front of him. After he was sitting down, he started telling Santa about the trains that he liked, especially the gray one and was asking Santa to bring him a train present for Christmas. Well, it's a good thing that Santa now knows that there had better be a train present under the tree on Christmas morning :).
