Memorial Day-

For Memorial Day we visited the cemeteries in Fairview & Dayton.  It's always fun to hear stories about my grandparents and the good lives they lived.  After, we visited a park my Grandpa Phillips helped plan & build that I played at a bunch as a kid.  I hadn't been there in a long time and it was fun to take my kids to enjoy the same things I did.
I was the most happy to see this duck still there!

This was the first time my kids have seen/played on a merry-go-round and a teeter-totter.  They just don't make parks the same as they used to.  They loved them both!

I know I already did a merry-go-round picture but for my family- see the blue slide in the background? Remember that?
And this slide?  It's still the coolest slide.

Whoever decided to put leg holes on both sides of a swing seat was very smart.

Thinking this park should become part of our memorial day traditions.

I like to ride my bicycle, I like to ride my bike-

Ava has been rocking it on her little bike with training wheels and also figured out a little balance bike that doesn't have pedals.  She went to my sister's house and tried her cousin Madalyn's bike without training wheels and could totally ride it!  So she came home and we took her training wheels off and voila she was off and loves it!  She's pretty cute zipping around on the tiny bike.

Even the rain couldn't stop her the next day.

Isaac has gotten in on the action and is excited he can move a little by himself.

So, poor Owen, the little bike that Ava calls hers now used to be Owen's.  He's needed a bigger bike for awhile now so when we took the training wheels off for Ava he could totally do it too.  We finally got him a new bike that has room for his legs to pedal and with bigger wheels can go a lot faster :).

Easter

What a great holiday Easter is.  It's low key, we get to enjoy some small, fun traditions, and think about the blessings of the resurrection and newness of life. Earlier in the week, one by one, everyone in our family got taken out by a yucky flu bug.  Nothing like being really sick to help you appreciate how wonderful it is to feel good! Ava was the last to suffer through the yuckiness.  Luckily she felt good on Saturday for our fun family day of Easter Egg Hunts and rolling/throwing of eggs down the hill.  The day before was not so good for Ava as you can see from the picture below so we stayed home and did something we haven't done before and dyed our own easter eggs.  It was very different for them each to have their own jars of Easter dyes.  :)

My mom loves Easter and everything about it- the eggs, bunnies, candies and pretty much anything pastel colored.  She makes a good Easter bunny each year.  This year she did a cute treasure map thing that was ripped up that the kids had to put together to find the end treasure.

Hiking up the hill to roll/throw down our Easter Eggs.  Thanks again Cat-  Ava sure is a good "hiker".

Hooray for feeling better!

Isaac got in on the action and had his owen dozen to toss.

Lots of loot!

For the prize from the treasure map the boys got some awesome bubble wand/sword things.

It was a great day!
