Ava had a great birthday. Her excitement for life makes anything fun so her birthday is extra exciting. First thing in the morning we opened some presents. She loves crafting anything so that's mostly what she got- which she immediately got started on after giving hugs.
When we were planning what she wanted to do for her birthday at first she wanted to have a party with some friends but then what she wanted even more was just having her best friend from school come play. I didn't argue with that.
Cat came to wish Ava happy birthday even before the party. Pretty lucky.
For dinner she wanted to eat out and she got to pick. She had a hard time deciding between Golden Corral because they have cotton candy or Texas Roadhouse because you get to sit on a saddle and they sing to you. Texas Roadhouse somehow won and we had a fun time. She was super shy when they came to sing to her on the saddle but kind of loved it.
For her birthday cake she knew she wanted a chocolate cake but kept changing her mind how she wanted it decorated. Some of her ideas were a little complex for me so I told her my cake decorating skills only go so far. Eventually I got smart and told her I would surprise her with what kind of cake I fixed for her. So while she went to the store with Matthew I made the cake and started decorating it and she & Grandma finished it off.
She was happy about it!
We had a little party with family that night and played 'Make Ava a Snowman'- similar to pin the tail on the donkey but with a paper carrot nose, ear muffs and a scarf. It was hilarious.
While Matt & Ava were shopping, Matt texted me that they found a 'little' piñata. Turns out it was not so little. Ava loved it and bashed it open on the her turn.
We love our sweet Ava girl. She keeps life exciting and brings so much happiness and energy to our family.

Cute Ava! My cake decorating skills are limited as well and seriously, why put so much effort into something that gets eaten and/or thrown away afterwards!? My new tactic - let my girls decorate their own cakes. They love that :) And I'd like to know how much of that pinata actually held candy? I'm guessing only the hooves! It is pretty awesome though. So wish we were closer to celebrate with you guys sometimes!
How fun to catch up. Such sweet faces that bring lots of smiles. Love you all
